Diabetes Prevention Program begins June 14. Susquehanna County residents will

Diabetes Prevention Program begins June 14. Susquehanna County residents will meet at the Forest City Library and Lackawanna County residents will meet at the Carbondale YMCA. Participants spend time with a group of supportive colleagues who care about their well-being, pursuing the goal of improved health and lowered risk for developing diabetes. Throop Hometown Hero Banners have been reviewed and most have been faded by age and weather. Those banners that have faded will not be hung and can be picked up at the Throop Municipal Building from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you have any questions or would like to purchase a new banner, call Peter Puhalla at 570-335-5551. Any banners not picked up by June 30 will be disposed of.

St. Francis Cemetery in Eynon is holding its annual plot sale in May, June and July. Burial plot, $700 (regularly $900); cremation plot, $450 (regularly $500). Call Carol at 570-945-7933 or Patty at 570-876-5428.

Christ Episcopal Church, Dundaff and Delaware streets, Forest City, will hold healing services at 4 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month from May through October.

Bishop O’Hara/Dunmore Central Catholic High School's Class of 1973 will celebrate its 50-year reunion in November. They are seeking contact information for all classmates, friends and family of the Class of 1973. Call or text Lauren Telep at 646-241-9443 with classmates’ mailing addresses and other information. Invitations will be sent in September.

Socially Simple will host a pop-up event for crafters and other vendors from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 10, inside the fashion mall at 221 Scranton Carbondale Hwy., Dickson City. Call 570-445-4497 for vendor information.

Arts Thrive: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Memorial Park and the Chamber Gallery, Carbondale. Fun, educational and interactive displays with local artists and artisans. Kid-friendly, hands-on demonstrations.

Annual bake sale: Before, during and after all weekend Masses, Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, 624 Madison Ave., Jermyn.

JUNE 4

Mountain View Garden Club Plant Sale/Exchange and Marketplace: plant sale from 1 to 3 p.m. and marketplace from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clifford Township Community Center. There will be vendors, food, music, Second Hand Rose Flea Market, raffle baskets and more.

Bingo: Doors, noon; start time, 1 p.m., hosted by the Altar and Rosary Society of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Rebecca Street, Throop. Tcket includes 16 regular games and the jackpot game. Genealogy Club: 3:30 p.m., Valley Community Library, 739 River St., Peckville. This club meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Attendees will learn more about history through their personal family history and will discuss different types of records used to find information, help each other search for more information and share findings.
