LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nine college students embarked on a journey last week.

Their goal? To run across the entire state of Nebraska and raise money for charity.

All funds raised will go to four Nebraska charities: Children's Hospital & Medical Center, Make-A-Wish Nebraska, the Stephen Center and Community Alliance.

The run began in Big Springs on May 31 and will conclude in Bellevue on Saturday morning.

Organizer Brandon Schutt, a college student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is the lead runner.

He said the run is nearly two years in the making.

"In December of 2021, it's something I started thinking about a lot because I saw someone run across the country, and I was thinking, ‘Why not? I could do something like that.'" Schutt said. "Fast forward about a year and a half, and here we are."

The other eight runners are: Brady Wood, Josh Bugay, Nate O’Brien, Alex Boerner, George Grinell, Vince Mendick, Jacob Mendick and Andrew Kazperek.

You can learn more about the run on its Facebook page, and you can also make donations to the GoFundMe.
