How to Get the Storage Shed

Welcome to IGN's Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 Update guide! This section

Welcome to IGN's Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 Update guide! This section tells you everything you need to know about How to Get the Storage Shed, how many Nook Miles it costs, and how to customize the color.

The Storage Shed is, quite literally, a shed that lets you store items—in your Storage, specifically. Added in the 2.0 Update, gone are the days of having to run back to your house every time you want to empty your pockets or store an item away.

It can be placed almost anywhere outside on your island, making inventory management an absolute breeze compared to before. The Storage Shed requires certain requirements to be met before you can get it, though. There's also a Wooden Storage Shed variant which only takes up one tile instead of two.

To unlock the Storage Shed for purchase, you first need to have upgraded your Storage to at least the 500,000 Bells option (we also died at the price, ouch). For tips on how to make money quickly, check out our Money Making Guide - How to Get Bells Fast section of the wiki.

Once you've upgraded your Storage and waited a day, you'll get a letter from Nook Inc. in the mail informing you that you can now buy the Storage Shed.

It is purchased from the Nook Stop in your Resident Services Building and costs 6,000 Nook Miles. Once you've forked over the Miles, it will be mailed to you and appear in your mailbox the next day.

The Wooden Storage Shed can also be bought at the Nook Stop but in DIY recipe form. It also costs 6,000 Nook Miles. To craft it, you'll need 30 Wood, 30 Softwood, 30 Hardwood, and 10 Iron Nuggets.

The Storage Shed you purchase from the Nook Stop only comes in one color like the rest of the Nook Miles items. Previously, the only way you could get new colors was to trade with another player but the 2.0 Update has changed this.

Fly on over to Harv's Island from your Airport and he'll introduce you to the new Plaza. Here you can purchase new shops and services—including Reese and Cyrus. Speak to the Lloid who mentions "a talented husband-and-wife furniture-refurbishing team" and pay 100,000 Bells to unlock the pair.

Wait until the next day and head back to the Plaza with your Storage Shed in your pockets. Reese and Cyrus will have set up shop, and Cyrus can now customize your machine's color.

If you pay him 5,200 Bells, he will change the color to either light blue, blue, green, red, beige, black, pink, or damaged (which looks like rusted metal). You can also change the decoration on the front of the Storage Shed. You can pick from a handful of pre-sets or use your own custom design. The switch is instant and he'll give it back to you straight away so there's no waiting like in New Leaf.
